Project Description:

Jen-Col was selected as the Construction Manager for the St. Mary’s Catholic School addition and modernization project – a grade 7-12 school in Vegreville, AB. The scope of work included modernizing the existing 4,175m2 school, creating an addition for the school’s CTS programs and increasing the size of the school’s gymnasium.

Work at St. Mary’s Catholic School began at the start of summer holidays and continued throughout the school break to modernize the existing theatre, chapel, cafeteria area, administration spaces and staff work room. New paint, ceiling and flooring along with mechanical and electrical upgrades were all part of the modernization. Jen-Col was able to complete the work and turn these areas back over to the school at the beginning of the new school year in September. In addition, the front entrance of the school was given a complete upgrade which included a remote-controlled LED lighted cross, new storefront glazing, paint and flooring.

Along with the modernization renovations, Jen-Col also built an addition to accommodate the school’s new CTS programs which included a woodwork shop and an athletics lab, complete with climbing wall. The existing gymnasium was also expanded to provide enough space for regulation size basketball and volleyball courts. To accompany the larger gymnasium, a former teaching space was converted into two new change rooms with lockers, showers and washroom facilities. Jen-Col continued to work while all areas of the school were occupied except for the addition, which was turned over for the school to use after the following winter break.
